Once again Mac Fields students have captured the attention of the local media. I hope you all saw the photo and read the related article about "Red Room" poetry. On Monday, we will be reading our poem in at the Conservatorium of Music in the city in honour of Lachlan Macquarie. The Minister for Education, Verity Firth, will be present as well as Michael Coutts-Trotter, DET Director General. The fact that Mac Fields HS was chosen to represent all high schools in NSW is an absolutely amazing opportunity and honour.

Good luck to Year 12 students who will be doing exams this week and next. I know you have worked extremely hard in preparation and I hope that your expectations are met.

Unfortunately, because our hall is still out of action (although work is starting in the holidays), exams will be held in classrooms. I realise how difficult this will be since most of our classrooms are clustered together in the one big block. I do ask that you respect the needs of Year 12 and walk quietly and quickly to and from class each lesson.

Have a great week.

Good luck to all students who are competing at the area swimming carnival this week. I know you'll have a great time and that you will put in your best effort as you represent your school and your zone.

I was very privileged to hear our choir practising last week. The students are learning all about harmonies and singing in parts. It was terrific to hear; the blending and joining together of such a lovely range of voices was music to my ears smile. It was exciting to see so many students involved, from Year 7 right through to Year 12. Congratulations and thank you to Mrs Costa.

Well done to the students who have been working on the RedRoom Poetry with Lachlan. I have been following the blog, reading with interest and am very much looking forward to discovering and enjoying the end product. It was certainly an honour to be invited to participate in this project about the history of Australia, and in particular Lachlan Macquarie.

A reminder about school photos on Friday. Please make sure you are organised and have checked on the day's organisation from Miss Hannaford.

Have a great week and remember: "Every day's a great day at Mac Fields!
